C Ultra is an optical spectroscopy light source for detection of various tissue pathologies in an oral cavity using the auto fluorscence property of the tissue. This modality of inspection is gradually becoming a routine screening practice at a dental clinic leading to timely detection of any pathological developments.
Many studies have shown that fluorescence spectroscopy can be used for optical tissue diagnosis. The principle of operation is based on the fact that the optical spectrum of tissue contains information about the biochemical composition and/or the structure of the tissue. The biochemical in formation can be obtained by evaluating the absorption and auto fluorescence of the tissue.
The intent of this system is to provide diagnostic signatures, in situ, non invasively and in real time. The immediacy of the diagnostic information can reduce the emotional trauma to the patient awaiting an answer. Also, this equipment would provide additional guidance in locating the optimum site for biopsy.
